Collaboartive Art
We worked together to create a group piece of art. Ms.Gray gave each group 2 colours, 2 types of lines and a shape to use. We used chalk pastels on black sugar paper to create our work. We think they turned out super, don't you agree?!
Self-Portraits
Leaf Man
Ms. Gray shared one of her favourite stories with us - 'Leaf Man' by Lois Ehlert. We loved how the pictures the Leaf Man went where the wind blows! He saw some amazing sights on his travels! We were inspired to create our own leaf people. We collected leaves from our school garden and let our imaginations run wild.....

Funny Bones
In class we read the story 'Funny Bones'. We were inspired to make our own skeletons! Aren't they just super?!
Class Advent Calendar
Our class Advent calendar is set up and ready to go!! We each drew a picture related to the 'Story of Creation' and 'The First Nativity'. Our pictures were then hidden with a window. We will open a window a day for the month of December. It's a super visual to help us in our countdown to Christmas!
Reindeer
We took part in some guided drawing. Our theme was 'Reindeers'. Some of them have red noses (Rudolph) while others have green noses (Ralph). They'll all help Santa to guide his sleigh!!
The Three Wise Men
We heard the story of 'The Nativity'. The Three Wise Men followed a bright star in the sky. We made crowns for the 3 kings.
Christmas Art
Here is a small selection of our work from the month of December.
Elmer
We heard a story about a special elephant called Elmer! He is a bright and unique patchwork elephant. Together we created a unique elephant using our handprints! We are all special and different, so we decorated stars to reflect this!
St. Brigid's Cloak
We are preparing for St. Brigid's day on the 1st of February. As part of our preparation we are learning a song called 'We Sing A Song To Brigid'. We also heard the story of St. Brigid's Cloak. Individually we created a piece of 'patchwork' using strips which we coloured. We placed all our pieces together to make a special cloak for Brigid.
Birds
We have started learning about birds. To mark the start of Spring, we worked on a collaborative art piece for our Spring display. We used ivy leaves for the green leaves in our piece, Beech leaves for the birds nest, paint and crepe paper. We all worked really well together!!
Farmer Duck
Ms. Gray shared one of her favourite books with us - Farmer Duck. We all loved how the inside cover started off as a dull Winter scene and by the end of the story, there was a happy ending, and a lovely summer landscape. We painted beautiful Spring landscapes.
Saint Patrick's Day Art
We painted bright rainbows and made magical pots of gold!! Hopefully a few leprechauns found them!!
Mothers Day
Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful women who take care of us!! We used celery to print roses and framed them with green ribbon. Our cards were made using scrap paper. We hope you all enjoyed getting them!
Picasso
We have been learning about Spain. Ms. Gray introduced us to a Spanish artist called Pablo Picasso. Picasso said it took him a lifetime to draw like a child! During our art lesson we played a game called 'Roll-A-Picasso'. We rolled dice and drew the facial feature we landed on. Our paintings are masterpieces hanging in a gallery outside our classroom door!!
Beautiful Butterflies
On entering our classroom, you now need to watch your head!! We have beautiful, bright butterflies fluttering from our ceiling!! Made from recycled paper they help to show a sign of summer in our classroom!!
Fruit Faces - Giuseppe Arcimboldo
While learning about Italy, we looked at Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Giuseppe painted portraits by combining fruit & vegetables , flowers and books. If you look closely at his paintings you can see the variety of fruit & veg he painted.

Sunflowers
We looked at the work of Vincent Van Gogh. We were inspired by his painting "Sunflowers". Ms. Gray gave us a choice between painting or using oil pastels. We used a guided drawing process and spoke about which elements to colour first. All our masterpieces follow the same theme, but they are all unique and different....just like us!!
